Brendan Monroe is an artist who digs through science to find loose references for his paintings and sculptures. He is actually living and working in Oakland, California. Once in a while he takes on illustration commissions, but most of the time he is painting and sculpting for exhibitions. He says it’s important to constantly challenge oneself with new ideas and new mediums. His interpretations of the world are mostly rooted in science then executed through hand painting and sculpting. These are the best ways for him to communicate, but he always enjoy making other things as well. Brendan Monroe’s work is concerned with living organisms, which simultaneously realize the maximal and the microscopic, painting on outside murals or framed for galleries.
